Intronis FundingIntronis, Inc., the provider of cloud backup solutions for the IT channel, announced the company received $12 million in funding led by new investor, Greenspring Associates, with participation from OpenView Venture Partners and the company’s executive management team.

Intronis was founded in 2003 on the idea that the benefits of online backup systems used by Fortune 500 companies can be made available to organizations of any size.

The funding is to be used by the company to expand its market reach in US and abroad. Year-over-year sales growth, exceptional partner satisfaction rating and consistent execution of its innovative technology are some of the key reasons for the funding by Greenspring Associates. Intronis provides an easy to use secure data solution for offsite and local backup, which generates monthly recurring revenue.

Intronis Cloud Backup and Recovery is a file based backup application that allows users to back up their critical data to the ultra-secure Intronis cloud. User data is always available and is stored in an encrypted format only accessible by those who possess their security key and account password. The product supports most of the MS Windows operating systems, offers MS Exchange, MS SQL Server backup and is also integrated to major solutions in the MSP ecosystem.

The company is set to announce general availability of its Fall Release later this month. The new release supports virtual machines and cloud-based infrastructure, enabling channel partners to streamline the overall management of online backups for multiple virtual machines across several servers to the cloud, as well as on premise locations, and establish profitable, recurring revenue streams.

“Cloud-based data backup and recovery has become an essential solution for businesses and consumers,” explained Intronis Interim CEO Jay Bolgatz. “This funding, combined with the upcoming launch of our Fall product release, will create unstoppable momentum that further enables Intronis and our channel partners to capitalize on the global market’s increasing need for reliable backup and recovery services.”
