VMWare Announces Brain Teasing Initiatives To Follow On Next Year

vmwareWhile its time that every company wants to end the year with a bang and provide brain teasing initiative for the new year for its customers, VMWare seems like it is making the right noises to follow the trend. A new initiative with EMC, a new cloud marketplace, key updates to its core products sounds to come to life towards last month of the year.

A New Company "Pivotal Initiative"

VMWare and EMC today have confirmed that all the people and programs from both companies focused on Big Data and Cloud Application Platforms will unite under one virtual organization the "Pivotal Initiative", led by Paul Maritz, Chief Strategy Officer of EMC. 

With a total combined strength of 1400 employees, Greenplum and Pivotal Labs organizations from EMC and VMware’s vFabric (including Spring and Gemfire), Cloud Foundry and Cetas organizations will join the new initiative. The companies expect to formally unite these resources by Q2 2013, with a specific operational structure to be determined.

Making their intentions clear to invest and mature bigdata and cloud space next year with focused approach, is this going to be some kind of trigger for rest of the players to watch out for?

A New Cloud Applications Marketplace

A brand new cloud applications marketplace that features over 100 downloadable application blueprints, reference architectures, logical templates containing operating systems, middleware services and application components for custom or packaged applications are on offer with launch of the VMware Cloud Applications Marketplace™ today. 

The new Cloud marketplace offers customers access to a broad range of solutions that will help them speed deployments of integrated multi-tier applications.

General Availability Of vFabric Application Director 5.0 and vCenter Operations Management Suite 5.6

VMware vFabric Application Director 5.0 accelerates the deployment of multi-tier applications to any cloud through easy-to-create application blueprints featuring standardized, pre-approved OS and middleware components. This release supports the deployment of applications across multiple virtual and hybrid cloud infrastructures, including Amazon EC2. 

General availability of vCenter Operations Management Suite 5.6 now includes patented analytics to integrated performance, capacity and configuration management for cloud infrastructure. In addition its also comes with new compliance dashboards, application level monitoring and performance management capabilities of the 5.6 suite.
