The training program focuses on structured, unstructured and semistructured data. HP had acquired Vertica Systems, an analytics database management software company, in March 2010 in a bid to expand its big data avenues. However there were reports that Vertica soon started losing talent in 2012.

As of now HP Vertica Analytics Platform is used by hundred of customers and multiple partners to monetize big data at a much larger scale. HP now wants customers and partners to sign up for certifications.

As per a recent report by Gartner, big data remand will reach 4.4 million jobs worldwide by 2015. But only about one-third of those jobs will be filled if the demand-supply ratio remains the same. It is crucial for IT executives to acquire new skills that organizations require to ensure their employees can harness the true potential of big data. HP's certification program could be one step forward towards this direction.

HP's big data training and certification program shall be delivered via HP ExpertOne certification unit. The program, available to HP channel partners and customers, is based on Vertica deployments in big data business cases. IT executives now understand how important big data certifications mean now that the market is adopting it at a much higher rate than ever. HP's certification may become a hot favorite amongst enterprise giants. No doubt a lot of IT workers see big data as a lucrative career move. The company has revealed that a lot of customers have been interested in big data certifications for sometime now.

Currently HP ExpertOne program offers certifications for more than 500,000 IT professionals. The new big data certification and training will cost about $2,000 per person in  group training environment and about $7,500 for personal classes. The training and certification program will aim towards validating skills and proficiency of the HP Vertica system administrators, database analysts and application developers. All of which are responsible for managing big data analytics. The certification will allow IT professionals to showcase their skills to harness, optimize and monetize big data applications.
