profitbricksHere’s some good news for Startups. The Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) company ProfitBricks has announced that under its recently launched programme for Startups, it shall provide virtual data centres, featuring the industry's first user-defined network configurations, at a considerably reduced cost for a year.

A company release said the incentives offered under the ProfitBricks Foundation Program to New England-area Startups launched last December were now being extended to all Startups across the United States.

But before that, Startups need to become eligible to receive the promised perks, though the company has not specified what all of the conditions were. But even those Startups that have one US office and a revenue of less than US $1 million per year are eligible. Shortlisted companies will receive 20 percent off of their IaaS services from ProfitBricks for one year, and will have access to a cloud server from ProfitBricks for one year without cost.

Founded in 2010, ProfitBricks is headquartered in Berlin, Germany and Boston, USA. It claims to have built the world's first, true virtual data centre, enabling users custom defined instances with live vertical scaling and double redundant cloud storage

"Startups demand a cost-effective cloud computing alternative and ProfitBricks is answering that call," said ProfitBricks USA CEO Bob Rizika. "Our overall performance using InfiniBand technology is an industry first and current Foundation Program startups are already experiencing the benefits. We are ready to give startups nationwide the additional incentive to get up and running faster."

InfiniBand Boosts Speed and Security

ProfitBricks recently introduced a number of industry firsts. One of them was the InfiniBand backed network to cloud computing, the same technology used in high performance computing environments (HPC). This industry breakthrough offers more than eight times the available speed from any other cloud provider.

The company explained that it worked towards making the setup and maintenance of cloud computing environments simple. The company also provides a 24X7 support system, and is the world's first cloud computing service that includes an easy-to-use drag-and-drop Data Centre Designer.
