jelastic.pngA few days back in an Interview with Dmitry Sotnikov, COO of Jelastic on release of Jelastic Eclipse Plug-in, I asked him “When can we expect the plugins for other IDE’s like NetBeans, IntelliJ?” The answer to which was “We are working on the plug-ins to more IDEs and you can actually help accelerate the effort.

Simply go to the feature-voting widget on our site: and upvote the IDE plug-in or another Jelastic enhancement that you need! “. And within no time we have the Jelastic plug-in ready to go with IntelliJ IDEA, one of the most popular Java IDEs for the benefit of developers.

Jelastic Inc., is the provider of ultra scalable and interoperable cloud hosting Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) for Java and PHP applications. And JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA, one of the most intelligent Java IDE featuring smart code completion, easier multi-language editing and a flexible cross-platform UI. The union of these two players provide immense benefits to the developers who wish to deploy their Java Apps on to the cloud, without the need to step out of their comfort zone.

The two major benefits of Jelastic PaaS, that the users of IntelliJ can avail from the 11th version onwards are : A
bility to work with different hosting providers, which gives developers the flexibility to choose the offering that suits them the best and even switch service providers in case they are not satisfied with their chosen offering. Another advantage the solution provides is that deployment of Java Apps on the cloud is seamless, without the need of any code modification or limitations.

The other recent developments that have happened at Jelastic end, are release of Jelastic Plugin for Eclipse IDE to facilitate usage of Jelastic PaaS from eclipse IDE, similar to the current release for IntelliJ.
Jelastic has also partnered with Planeetta Internet Oy, one of
Northern Europe’s major hosting providers to make available Platform-as-a-Service, with no lock-in or code changes to Finnish Developers.  Another feather added to Jelastic cap is the Start-up of the Year 2012 Award as a Global Startup, yesterday. The event founded by the Higher School of Economics, brings together some of the most successful and promising innovative companies from all over Russia.

With updates coming every now and then, Jelastic is on a mission to  make the life of developers aiming to build cloud scale applications easier. And awards such as Duke's Choice 2012 and Start-up of the Year are an indicator of the fact that Jelastic's solution has a huge potential.
