ScaleArc Gets $12.3 Million In FundingTo Get Into Big Data Market

ScaleArcScaleArc, database infrastructure software provider announced $12.3 million in new funding from leading venture capital firms. The round was led by Accel Ventures with participation from existing investors including Trinity Ventures and Nexus Ventures, from whom ScaleArc had previously raised $5.33 million in 2011. It will be used primarily to invest in sales and marketing to fuel ScaleArc’s global expansion in the multi-billion dollar Big Data market.

Last year has seen significant investments with in big data space and there is no slowing down of this trend into early this year. ScaleArc iDB is a SQL traffic management engine that inserts transparently between applications and databases. iDB provides instant visibility into database problems with deep real-time SQL analytics. iDB enables instant scalability and high availability for databases with read/write split, replication-aware load balancing and query routing capabilities. Faster query performance is achieved with transparent query caching, and security is strengthened with SQL firewall capabilities. Real-time Monitoring is provided with high-resolution graphs and event logs that provide real-time visibility and critical insights into database performance, transactions and behavior.

This product can be setup in minutes with no modifications to applications or databases being necessary. IT supports MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases and is available as software on any x86-64 server, as a virtual appliance on any x86 compatible hypervisor, or as a turn-key appliance. iDB is cloud-ready and available via service providers such as the Amazon AWS/EC2 Cloud, GoGrid, Joyent, Liquid Web Hosting and NephoScale. Existing customers include Demand Media, Disney UTV, KIXEYE, Sazze (dealspl.us), Flipkart, Weather Decision Technologies and others, with documented ROIs ranging from instantaneous to less than one year.
