roltaRolta India Limited today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Rolta UK Limited had been awarded two contracts with a combined value of nearly £7m (approx. US $11 million) by the United Kingdom-based electricity distribution company, Northern Powergrid.

Making the announcement on its website, the company said the first contract was to implement a fully integrated Asset Management System (AMS) with comprehensive geospatial functionality, while the second called for the provision of data management and quality assurance services relating to asset records. The combined contracts will be executed over two years.

Northern Powergrid delivers electricity to nearly 4 million domestic and commercial customers across the north east of England. Management of its assets, some 31,000 substations and 91,000 km of overhead and underground cables, is critically important for investment decisions and changes to the asset infrastructure.

Reflecting on the two contracts, Ravi Pandey, President of Rolta Europe, said, "Rolta is pleased to be chosen with its proven track record in executing complex systems integration projects in utilities, and geospatial expertise. We are delighted to bring our specialist skills to this exciting project."

The AMS, with fully integrated location data, is intended to deliver information to management and operations staff with secure access at remote business locations through mobile devices. Asset information and operational KPIs will be updated in near real time, according to the company.

Rolta will leverage its solution frameworks, deep utilities know-how and IT expertise for enterprise-level systems integration to deliver the contract. Rolta is enabling the Oracle enterprise Asset Management (Oracle eAM) module within Northern Powergrid's existing Oracle e-Business Suite and creating a separate Oracle spatial database.

This is the second important contract that Rolta has bagged in two months. In January, Rolta International, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Rolta India Limited, was awarded a US $31 million contract to  provide consulting, systems integration and software services to the largest three-service municipal utility in the United States, Memphis Light Gas and Water (MLGW).  The award included the customisation, implementation and deployment of Oracle’s E-Business Suite R12, Telvent’s ArcFM software and PowerPlan’s suite of asset-centric accounting solutions.  The project also includes the full range of Oracle E-Business Suite applications, including Financials, eAM, GIS, Human Resources, Hyperion and Business Intelligence.

Rolta, a multinational headquarted in India, is a leading provider of innovative IT solutions for many vertical segments, including Federal and State Governments, Defense/HLS, Utilities, Process, Power, Financial Services, Manufacturing, Retail, and Healthcare. It has 40 offices, worldwide.
