simkl dvdvideosoftSome more Skype audio, video chat recording services enter market, one of them is the free Skype recording service launched by IM platform services developer Simkl, the other by DVDVidesoft. The first one is a cloud-based software that both, corporates and parents are going to love; at least those who actively use Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP).

The New York, USA based Simkl, a developer of services and products for IM platforms, recently unveiled a new software version of Skype recording service with cloud storage. The new application - IM Chat & Voice Recorder V3.0 – enables the recording of Skype audio calls. It can thus be used by corporate monitoring agencies, parents concerned with the online safety of their children and all Skype users who want to gain instant and direct access to all voice and text recordings, the company said.

What this new version does is automatically save a Skype user’s important IM conversations on a secured web server. In case you didn’t know, recoding of IM and video messaging on Skype can be quite a handful, but there are some companies out there like Simkl and DVDVidesoft Ltd that sell software to record both kinds of Skype conversations, audio and video. It’s the same way as saving e-mails.

The version by Simkl allows users to record all Skype voice conversations including SkypeOut and SkypeIn. Besides saving them, here’s what else you can do:

  • Backup IM contacts
  • Cloud storage    Access to your conversations from anywhere in the world
  • Work on multiple computers and have combined history
  • Easy access to IM History Viewer from your PC

An additional feature provided in the new version is a free tracking tool of children’s usage of Skype. Parents can now easily access and view their child’s Skype activity.  Chatting over Skype has always been fraught with danger for kids because they can have unlimited, unsecured conversations with strangers over Skype. But with Simkl’s new software, that’s no longer the case as parents can now have control over who their children are talking to over Skype. This way, they will never have to worry about computers dying or call recordings disappearing.

Some of the free call recorder’s features include a personalized installer option, which allows users to connect directly to the Simkl servers, without carrying out additional setup after installation, cloud storage and easy access to IM history viewer. Free Skype recording option in mono or stereo stored on the user’s personal computer is also available.

Simkl has been around since 2007 in the IM recording business and claims to be the only service on the market that gives cloud storage for backup and archival of Skype text messages and voice conversations.

But there’s a competitor called DVD Softlabs Limited who near-simultaneously launched a free app for Windows users that allows Skype users to record not only voice and video calls from Skype free but apparently with no limits or catches. It’s called the Free Video Call Recorder for Skype

DVDVideoSoft is a relatively new player in the business, and is an independent developer of multimedia software programs for video, audio, photo and image processing.

All that users have to do use the video call recorder is to choose what they want to record: both sides of a video conversation, your opposite number’s video feed only or just your audio chat. Pick a suitable folder and hit the Play button and that’s it. The conversation gets recorded, and ends when the Skype call is over.
