The new Software as a Service (SaaS) will allow IT professionals across various industries to manage, secure and deploy a variety of devices and infrastructure components from a single console and through an assortment of delivery mechanisms. Avalanche 5.4 is available through on-premise installation, cloud-based SaaS (Avalanche On Demand) and as a hosted offering (Avalanche Managed Services).
The solution offers many positives including reduction in time, costs, and risks associated with managing both consumer and ruggedized business-critical mobile devices because of its new add-ons like an optimized support of the popular iOS6 and Android platforms and a forced application push option that deploys applications to the user's device on demand, according to a company press release.
These new features are in addition to existing features like software and configuration management options, mobile device security, remote help desk, location-based services, alerts and reports, and infrastructure management capabilities.
Wavelink Avalance 5.4 will allow IT managers in a number of industries, such as retail, healthcare, government, to name a few, to easily configure and manage both consumer and ruggedized devices that perform mission-critical tasks, including performing inventory lookup, point-of-sale (POS) functions, field service operations and securely sending clinical data.
Wavelink, a business unit of LANDesk Software, is one of the leading providers of multi-vendor mobile device management, wireless infrastructure management, terminal emulation, voice enabling and mobile application development solutions. Wavelink Corporation with its headquarters in the US has more than 7.5 million active client licenses around the world.
"With the latest upgrade to Avalanche, we wanted to empower our customers to choose the mobile devices that work best for them when performing tasks that drive revenue for their business," said Mike Temple, Product Manager at LANDesk Software. "With many organizations now choosing iPads and other consumer products as their device of choice, the Avalanche 5.4 permits organizations to securely enable mobile support within an increasingly consumerised mobile workplace from a single console."
