Boundary
Benjamin Black, The principal engineer for Amazon infrastructure and co-author of the first documents on what later became EC2 has launched his new startup "Boundary", which aims to provide a real-time, SaaS-based solution for high-volume, high-resolution monitoring of cloud environments and enables ops teams to measure and analyze network and application traffic in any cloud infrastructure, including public cloud providers like Amazon EC2 and private cloud data centers.

oracleOracle has managed yet another exciting bargain this week buying Endeca just in matter of weeks launching its public cloud and also demonstrating its commitment to Big Data and NoSQL supporint Hadoop. The combination of Oracle and Endeca is expected to create a comprehensive technology platform to process, store, manage, search and analyze structured and unstructured information together. The combination of Oracle ATG Commerce and Endeca InFront is expected to enhance cross-channel commerce, merchandising, and online customer experience management (CXM).

ClouderaCloudera has announced launch of Crunch, a Java library that aims to make writing, testing, and running MapReduce pipelines easy, efficient, and even fun. Crunch’s design is modeled after Google’s FlumeJava, focusing on a small set of simple primitive operations and lightweight user-defined functions that can be combined to create complex, multi-stage pipelines. At runtime, Crunch compiles the pipeline into a sequence of MapReduce jobs and manages their execution.

Oracle NOSQL
Due to the nature of big data, Andy Mendelsohn, Senior VP of Oracle's server technologies noted that a traditional structured database like the Oracle database is likely not the best solution. Instead he said that NoSQL databases, which can be more scalable for unstructured data, are a better fit. To that end, Oracle is now debuting the Oracle NoSQL database to store big data.

Verizon acquires cloud computing startup CloudSwitch, an innovative provider of cloud software technology, in a deal that will simplify the move to the enterprise cloud and help to boost industry adoption.


Verizon plans to combine CloudSwitch, a privately held company based in Burlington, Mass., with its Terremark IT services subsidiary, further accelerating the company’s global cloud strategy by enhancing Verizon’s hybrid cloud and cloud-to-cloud capabilities.

Mozy has announced the launch of Mozy iPhone app, now available for MozyPro customers on either the iOS or Android mobile platforms.

As with the previous Mozy mobile app releases for MozyHome customers, MozyPro users can now access their Mozy backed up files from their mobile device. Additionally, they can download the file and use it with other iOS or Android apps that support that file type.
