New year is here and an end to increased acquisitions trend is no where to be seen yet. December, 2012 has seen some big named acquisitions involving Dell, Red Hat, Oracle, Adobe and others. Here is a round up of major acquisitions for this month.
Oracle revises its big data platform with improved hardware, software, hadoop connectors and a revised Oracle NoSQL Database. The big data platform revision aims at increased performance, flexible Application Development and Tighter Integration with Oracle Database and Hadoop.

Smartsheet.com Inc., a leading online collaboration provider, this week announced it has secured $26 million from Insight Venture Partners and Madrona Venture Group. The company will use the funding to accelerate sales and marketing efforts, advance software development efforts, and expand partnerships. As part of the transaction, Ryan Hinkle, principal at Insight Venture Partners, will join Smartsheet’s Board of Directors.
